It all started in Africa when she searched for years to find cosmetics that would enhance the dark hues of her skin tone without making her look lighter or gray. The search was for makeup that offered colors that weren’t muted against her rich skin color. Necessity and inspiration spawned the creation of Juvia’s Place.

Beautiful for deeper skin tones.
I always, ALWAYS get complimented when I wear this palette. I swatched it in ulta and then could not stop thinking about it… that green duochrome in the corner…??Well, it was on sale on Amazon, and here we are!I think this palette is so beautiful and inspiring. The color story is interesting and good for most seasons (especially late spring/summer/early fall.) The shimmer/glitters are the star of show here, personally. I cannot get over these duochrome shades. They’re just beautiful, and soft to the touch, easy to apply, both with my fingers and with a brush.The mattes are good as well, I think they blend easily and are incredibly vibrant and saturated. I do not use them as much so I don’t have a ton to say, but I have had no issues.The variety of colors makes it easy to use just this palette for your look, and I have been using it for several months and have not run out of combinations yet. I think there are lots of options with this for creativity.Now, my one note- not a negative note, just something to think about. If you are a very pale woman, like I am, some of these shades may be difficult to use in everyday makeup. I generally like to wear a shiny lid highlight in a blue or pink or some kind of duo-shifty shade. I really would like to do this with these colors, but they are too deep to do so- the reflect is bright and vibrant, but the base of many of the shimmers (even the lighter ones) is a deeper color, not light or translucent. So if I’m using this palette, I’m almost always having to do a full beat look.Again, that’s understandable considering juvias place is a black brand that strives to make makeup that will work for black women! I think if these had lighter bases they probably wouldn’t work well for dark-skinned women.So, in conclusion, beautiful palette with great texture and colors. If you’re really pale and don’t usually do a whole eye look, this might not be right for you. If you really like a full beat, this is the perfect palette!

Holy pigment
Holy pigment! The glitters are amazing! All the colors I’ve tried have stayed on and kept their vibrancy the whole day. I have oily lids so I have to use an eye shadow primer and it plays well with all the primers in my makeup bag. You get a lot of shadows for the price.

Beautiful eyeshadow palette. If you have’t tried Julia’s place yet, please do. Their eyeshadows are highly pigmented and stays on without creasing or flaking or drying out the eyelid, and its a reasonably priced brand.

Gorgeous palette. Some of the colors stain. The palette is large but it’s fine, I wish they’d make it easier to depot the shadows if I wanted them in a magnetic palette. Texture is great and blends well. The blue shadow though is kinda stiff and doesn’t work that well but every other shade is great. The duochromes in the palette are very buttery, smooth and very reflective which I love. I will say primer beyond a little concealer on the lid is necessary because the metallic shades will crease if not. Overall very happy.
