For those who just want a summery: this is the best period product that I have ever used. It takes a learning curve to get used to, but completely worth it. It is very comfortable, and I don’t have to worry about it throughout the day. I did find the reuseable more comfortable than the disposable discs. I haven’t had any significant leaking when using correctly, but I would recommend using a panty liner or period underwear for added protection until you get used to it. All in all, I wish that I had been brave enough to try the disc way sooner.For those who want a long, detailed, and TMI answer: I ordered a Flex period cup (not the disc) a couple years ago because I really wanted to have a reuseable product, and I was very tired of pads. I was always uncomfortable with tampons because (ironically for someone who was ordering a period cup) I just couldn’t get past shoving cotton up my you-know-what. Plus, removing tampons always felt so nasty and they never lasted very long because of how ridiculously heavy my period is. I have always had to have the big awful maxi pads and I would still be changing them all day long.When I ordered the period cup, I discovered quickly that this was not going to work for me. I tried very very hard to get used to it, but that was not going to happen. Inserting it was extremely difficult. No matter how many times I tried, it never got easier. The few times that I was able to insert it correctly, the little pull tab (which mind you I was very grateful for) made me very uncomfortable no matter what position that I was in. Removing was always painful, despite the pull tab. I just couldn’t keep trying.The disc was a different story. Originally when I ordered the Flex cup, it came with two disposable discs as a bonus. I had no idea what those were. After inspecting and reading the instructions, I said no way in hell was I going to even try those. I threw them in with my other toiletries and never even consider them until two years later. I am not even sure why I thought about them again. I think that I saw an ad about reuseable pads or something along those lines that made me want to try to find a reuseable product. I think that I looked into period underwear first before I remembered the discs (at that point Flex had come out with a reuseable disc). I practically dove into research about them. Where they sit, if they are safe, are the disposables better or the reusables? I read probably hundreds of reviews and suddenly became determined to try the disc. I still had one disposable disc that was in its sealed package, so I tried it on my next period. I knew INSTANTLY that it was a game changer. Inserting it was so easy and painless that I was actually excited that this might be it. I bought a pack of Flex disposables right away to try out for a full cycle before ordering a reuseable disc. Removing it was a little difficult the first time, because I didn’t bear down correctly. However, I figured it out and the next time was a breeze. The thing that I didn’t like about the disposable discs is that I can feel them when they are in. It was not uncomfortable or even bothersome, but I can definitely tell that they are there.The Flex reuseable disc was even better. I was a little nervous about the fact that the rim is a bit larger, but the notch makes it just as easy to insert. The rim is not as hard as the disposables, so I do not feel it at all when it’s in correctly. I have been using it for five months now and I am never going back. Normally both discs stay in place just fine. I have had it slip out of place a couple times when I was laying down in a weird position and another time when I was running. It was at the beginning of my learning curve, so I probably didn’t put it in very well. Neither time did it leak either. One of the best things is that you actually can leave it in for the full 12 hours. If you are on your heavy day and you are worried about it getting too full, you can “dump” it without removing when you go to the bathroom by bearing down (literally like you are trying to poop). Note that if you have a light period or you haven’t been wearing it long, it probably won’t dump much if anything. This did take me some time to get it right and even more time to get used to. I am not used to the blood spilling out all at once and it does gross me out. Not enough to stop using it, but enough that I’m still getting used to it. Every now and then I do have some spotting (probably because of dumping when I use the bathroom). I only had two major leaking incidents. One was with a disposable disc literally the first week of trying them out. I probably didn’t put it in very well and I had been holding in a number 2 for a lot longer than anyone should have to wait to use the bathroom. The other time was with a reuseable disc. It was overnight in my heaviest time of the week, and I had probably spent 10 hours sleeping without getting up to dump and another hour in bed on my phone. Both times I had been wearing a pad, so it wasn’t a disaster but they did happen.I know that cleaning the reuseable disc is a turnoff for a lot of people. The process of removing the disc can be messy for both the reuseable and disposable discs ESPECIALLY when you are learning. It is easier for me to insert the disc correctly while standing up with a leg up on the tub, but I am always sitting on the toilet to remove it. I know that some prefer to remove their discs while in the shower, however I want all the contents to go directly into the toilet. It’s not any less comfortable for me and it contains any mess. Even with practice though, I do get some blood on my fingers. It can be minimal, but I don’t think that it can be completely avoidable. It doesn’t really bother me but that might not fly with some.The flex wash does a great job cleaning my disc. Always rinse out the blood with cold water to prevent staining your disc and then clean it in hot water. I use two pumps each time and it is more than enough to get it clean. I would say that the one bottle lasted me 3.5 cycles. My period is always 7+ days, so even with the 12-hour wear, that can be a lot of washes. Like others have said, original Flex wash does have like a floral smell to it. It does seem pretty strong to me, but it’s not a bad smell. I had every intention of buying the same thing when I ran out, but I accidentally ordered the Neroli & Rosemary scent instead. It performs the same, however it has a little more of a spice smell and it is way less potent. Because of that, I’ll probably buy it again, but I don’t have any complaints about the original wash. The wash does get it very well cleaned, but it is good hygiene to sterilize it every now and then. Lots of women get steamers meant for sterilizing cups/discs, so don’t stress about having to boil it on the stove. I bought a little machine here on amazon that can both steam and boil. It works perfectly for my liking, and I don’t have to leave my bathroom. I tend to boil my disc at the end of my cycle and before I use it again. When I get in the shower at night, I usually just steam it. If you wanted to just use the Flex wash your whole cycle and sterilize it when you are done for the month, I’m sure it will probably be just fine. I am just paranoid.All in all, I would highly recommend this product to any woman out there. You don’t have to be afraid of it, even if you’ve never used a tampon or you are a virgin. Every new thing is a learning curve and something like this is almost always super scary. There is no shame in that and there is no shame in sticking with what you are comfortable with either. I didn’t even consider this product until two years later and there is nothing wrong with that. As for me, I wish that I had been brave enough to start using this two years ago. It is such a game changer and I feel so much freer on my period than I ever have before.

Super happy that Amazon.ca carries the Flex Reusable Disc since we can’t find the reusable disc in stores here in Toronto (stores only carry the disposables). Well as you can see, I have both the reusable and the disposable discs: I bought the disposable one first to see if liked it enough to get the reusable one. I love both and found the reusable disc slightly more comfortable than the disposable disc!Flex is the first brand of menstrual discs I ever used and previously I had been using the Diva Cup for years. I have no idea why it took me THIS LONG to discover menstrual discs. I can honestly say, I will only use the Diva Cup if I’m swimming in the ocean (and I don’t touch tampons by the way). Why won’t I use the menstrual disc when swimming in the ocean? Okay ladies, well, if you’re having fun snorkelling in the ocean for a couple of hours, you’re probably gonna want to pee in the ocean (just not with any humans near you out of courtesy). And well, when you pee, the disc will self-empty and release blood and you don’t want blood in the ocean (um, it could attrack a shark). So for anyone who swims in the ocean regularly or is heading on a tropical vacation during that time of the month, just keep this in mind as a small safety tip 😉In terms of using the menstrual disc during intimacy, this thing is AMAZING! 😅 Your partner probably won’t notice or feel the disc.I honestly love the Flex menstrual disc and highly recommend it. And I did quite a bit of research prior to my purchase and found that Flex is the only reusable disc that does not have dye/colour on the disc which was important to me. Now, I was shocked when I saw the size of the disc for the first time: my partner was shocked too and we both wondered how it was going to fit in there 🤣 well, it fits. And it fits quite easily!! And the good news is that I don’t feel it at all (unlike the diva cup which you can kind of feel). And compared to the diva cup, for any ladies who have experience with the diva cup, this menstrual disc is a breeze to remove: I often struggled to pull out the diva cup in comparison and I find the diva cup a lot messier since it does not self empty like this Flex disc.Hope this review helps! ☺️

i’m gonna feed back on a few bits that are super relevant.- it doesn’t self empty quite as well as the disposables do.- it’s comfortable and you can’t feel it in place- you’ll never go back to tampons again, this is so much more practical- it is messy to empty, you need a bathroom with a sink to wash your hands after to plan removal for bedtime- I’ve never leaked with flex, either disposable, if you import them from the states, or this reusable silicone one.- it feels cleaner than regular sanitary items to use, ‘nipping’ to the loo is so much easier- if you’re a sports person, this is your go to, especially sports where you’re unable to get to a loo for hours – golf, tennis, football etc- you can do the deed with it in place, it doesn’t shift or move, but it is distracting for your partner cos they can feel it. if you’re after the cleaner experience this will tick the box, but you’re only gonna want to remove it to clean it after anyway (in my opinion) so if you’re not bothered to begin with, just remove it first.- to get your head around the way these work, it sits vertically not horizontally. you put it in like a tampon without an applicator, it slots into place intuitively about as high up as your index finger. you hook it back out with your finger, you might have to bear down a little. it sounds way more complicated than it actually is.- all day comfort, no stress, no leaks, to toxic shock and you can sleep in it no problem.- it just cleans with handwashing.- worth noting for anyone who already uses the disposable flex that this needs a little more concentration to remove, not in a bad way, just in a different way because its all silicone.- it air dries quickly and comes with a little canvas bag to store it in.- worth one final note – if you like to sleep without clothes, this is the purchase for you.
