Never change your formula
This lightened my darker, previously dyed hair into a gorgeous golden light auburn brown—my hair really takes well to that pigment. I’m honestly so impressed. The color looks super natural and even, which surprised me since my bangs are very porous and usually turn out darker than the rest of my hair. Somehow this dye gave me a consistent result all over.I’m surprised it lightened my hair because it did seem quite damaged, so I didn’t think it was possible. I love the golden hue of this dye— it’s such a flattering tone. On top of that, my hair feels soft and healthy. With the ammonia-free Revlon, my hair always felt like straw and seemed more damaged afterward. But this dye left my hair feeling soft, not brittle, and that makes me so happy.It’s been about a week since I colored, and my hair still looks and feels great—no signs of the usual damage I’d expect after dyeing with revlon. This formula must be much gentler (though of course everyone’s hair can react differently I suppose?)I got the shade 7N and I truly love it. Please never change this formula, L’Oréal—it’s perfect!Update: I also tried the 6N light brown! If you leave it on a while, it will run quite dark like the other reviews say, but in my case it lightened up quick with hair washing! I think I’m going to stick with the 6N because in my case it was just a darker version of 7N which I like. But if you want to lighten hair, for sure go for the 7N or above. Anything under that, it will probably darken! I’ve also noticed, maybe it’s because I don’t do color care, the color does lighten over time on my hair, but I notice my hairs like this with any dye. My hairs happy so I’m happy, all I know is it’s better than the revlon I was using cuz my hair isn’t turning into a Sahara desert

A natural look with excellent gray coverage!
First time I tried this version of L’Oreal Excellence hair color. It’s only been a day so I can’t report on how long-lasting the color is, but I am happy with everything else that I’ve experienced. The application was easy with thorough instructions, disposable gloves that actually fit my semi plus-size hands, and plenty of product to cover all of my albeit thinning but longer than shoulder length hair. Those are usually the areas that I run into problems with applying hair color out of a box, the glove size being small and the quantity too little. Not this time! As far as the actual product, I got excellent gray coverage and as advertised, I think the color is flattering for my skin tone. I like that not only is conditioner included, but a little bottle of shampoo as well. I will definitely be buying this again. I recommend this product.

YAY…No Stong Odor!
I have been dying my hair at home for about 8 years now and L’oreal Paris Excellence is the one color I always rely on for even color and tone. Well, I was watching TV the other night and saw this ammonia free one advertised, so I ordered it to try. One thing I’ve always hated about hair color is that nasty, strong smell of ammonia. This product is a Godsend! Covers grays beautifully and there is no ammonia smell. Talk about winning! You seriously have to try it to believe it!

Does not cover grey AT ALL.
Doesn’t cover evenly or color greys. I may have to go to the salon to fix this…but I guess I get to look terrible for at least ten days. I’m no novice at coloring my own hair. I use a brush and bowl to apply, just like in a salon. I make little parts to do my roots all over my scalp, just like a salon. I’ve had quality salons not know I box dyed my hair for three months when I visited. I know that box color rarely if ever lifts color and it’s limits. This should have applied evenly. Instead it’s absorbed some into my ends while leaving a multitude of visible greys and very little color on my roots. It was probably on for 3-5 mins longer than recommended. If it colored my roots like it did my ends I might buy it again but it is complete garbage on roots…thanks for the negligibly visible tint. It wasn’t worth almost an hour of my life and the cost of two boxes of this stuff. Checking to see if the manufacturer offers refunds.And yes, it does smell. I lost most of my sense of smell from a house fire ten years ago and I was gagging throughout the process.

It works really well. Very easy to apply. Enough product in one container for the shoulder length hair. Covers gray hair very evenly. The colour gels really nice and looks really beautiful on any skin tone as they advertise. Definitely buying this again. I received so many compliments after applying this colour

Great grey coverage! Comes with shampoo & conditioner that last 2 weeks (conditioner only-the shampoo is single use). The colour is a beautiful deep brown & the price is cheaper than anywhere I found in stores, even Wal-Mart. It’s lasted for more than 2 months with no fading. Great product-great price. Would highly recommend ❤️

gives long-lasting color with easy application and no skin irritation. I used it with my regular shampoo and washed my hair on alternate days — the color lasted about 2 months. The only downside is that the quantity is too much for one-time use, and it would be great to have a smaller single-use pack without the shampoo and conditioner. packaging, and delivery were all very good.

My hair is medium brown so I thought I would try this Natural Brown. Natural being the key word for me. Well, my hair is now almost Black. My hair felt wonderfully soft but this color in no way is Natural. At least not on me. I will stick to my regular color. I do love this brand though. No Ammonia.
