Great straightner
Great straightener! This is my second one. The first one I ordered in 2011, and it still works great. I got the second as a backup when I lost my luggage (then got it back luckily). Anyway, I have thick hair and it grasps my hair just right for styling. Nice to be able to adjust the heat as well. Highly recommend!

I believe this is the same iron that my hair stylist used on my hair and was pleasantly surprised to see it for an affordable amount, unlike at the salon (I think it was selling for $180 there). The iron heats up quickly and I haven’t had any issues with it yet, unlike some of the other users. The dial allows you to select the proper temperature to use for your hair type, which is convenient.It seems that allowing my hair to dry fully and then running it through the iron allows it to straighten without having the frizzy ends. So unlike some users that have used this product on wet hair, I get better results after drying my hair.I haven’t plugged and unplugged the iron often and they send instructions to keep it plugged in if possible, using the on/off switch instead of fulling disconnecting from the plug to turn it off. I’m not sure if this is due to issues they’ve had with the plug/cord or for our convenience, although the latter doesn’t seem likely; as you are instructed to unplug most electrical appliances that are used in the restroom, when not in use.The decision maker for me was that it was a decently priced model for a ceramic flat iron. I’ve read other flat iron complaints from melting ceramic plates, cords with shorts, to the ceramic plate falling off entirely from the iron. I figured that if I’m going to dish out $$$ for a flat iron, might as well get a good ceramic iron for a decent price considering all the different problems that can occur with them.

Great Flat Iron
This is my second time ordering this flat iron. My last one I had for about 3 years and it finally gave out one day. I have never had any problems with it. It heats up fast every time and you can have the temprature up to 400 degrees. I am able to strighten my hair with ease and you don’t have to constantly got over the same area to get it flat. One or two strokes and you are good to go. I usually use a flat iron spray and so i get build up from that, which it wipes off very easily which is nice. The ceramic plates work awesome and I use this every other day. It’s a reliable flat iron for sure!

This frizzy-haired girl is a huge fan of HAI! The HAI Convertible flat iron is the only one I will ever purchase. I’ve been using them for years. I use them hard and drop them a lot. But despite the “love” I give to them, they always last a long time. I’ve tried many others, attracted by the promises they make or the lower price, but I always go back to HAI. They’ve never failed me. They don’t pull on my hair. They flow smoothly through my long curly/frizzy locks, making it straight and soft. The temperature is easy to adjust and on this gold version, it goes up to 450. Nice for those super frizzy crazy hair days. In the past I’ve only owned the HAIs with the blue plates. But this time I got the one with gold plates and I love it! It works as well as its blue plated sibling, but the temp goes a bit higher. Now I need to buy another one because my teenage daughter keeps stealing mine. Thanks for making my hair pretty, HAI! I appreciate you!

Very unhappy with this product
I generally don’t write reviews, but feel like I need to with this product. I have been a stylist for 40 years and LOVED the first Hai flat Iron I purchased. I thought I was buying the same one, but this one is a waste of money. The first problem I have with it, is that it turns off by itself. I leave my iron on during the day while I’m working so it’s ready to use on any client. Every time I pick it up to use it, it has shut itself off and I have to wait for it to heat up again. My first Hai iron didn’t do this.The second thing I hate about it, is that it has absolutely no grip whatsoever. The hair just slips right through, making me have to pull the hair through it many more times than I should – wasting my time, and adding more heat to the clients hair than it should.Unfortunately I have had it more than 30 days ( I was going to start a new job and made my salon purchases a few months before actually starting, so now it’s too late to return).I feel like I totally wasted my money on this.

One of the best straightners I’ve had!
I purchased this with a bit of hesitation after hearing people complain about the straightner giving up on them shortly after their purchase. I decided to take a chance on it and follow the advice of other reviewers who said that you shouldn’t wrap the cord tightly around the straightner, as that damages the connection and causes it to stop working. I’ve had this straightner for 2 1/2 years now, traveled with it multiple times (never wrapping the cord around the straightner though!) and it’s still working great! I have fine hair, but I have lots of it! I probably damaged my hair at first thinking having it on a higher setting was better, but I’ve been able to dial in the heat setting that works best for my hair, and I love that I can change it. I’m not stuck with whatever the manufacturers think the heat needs to be at! I also love that it makes wonderful curls that last a million times longer than any curling iron I’ve used! If this iron ever dies on me, I would come back and get another in a heart beat!
