A must have!
I love Clairol natural instincts. I have been covering my grey roots for 15 years using this product. I use the root touch up in between salon colors to save on money. I find that Natural Instincts maintains my cover longer leaves my hair looking like it was just professionally done. There is little to no chemical smell. The product is creamy, very easy to apply with brush provided, and nourishing.

I love the color.
I love how easy this is to use. Usually I just need to do the roots and this is just right for me. Using a whole kit was making my hair darker and darker no matter how careful I am. I have been coloring my hair myself since I was a teenager, for bady now for the color. I have resistant greys and this does the trick! I usually make a mess with a big kit, but with this, it is just right amount to do roots and my hair is the right color just like it should be. I am a loyal customer and love it for it works so well. I have alot of hair and yet this covers the roots as long as I dont let it go too long between touch ups its all I need! Wow! I love it and the ease of use! Great value too! You get a little tray to mix the two items and a brush and it is so easy = wa laa! It looks great and healthy and shiny.

Only hair dye I’ll use (Asian female)
Just FYI, I’m Asian and use the black shade to cover up my numerous grays. This is the only hair dye I’ll use because I’m terrified of damaging my hair, and I’m really low-maintenance (I don’t want to buy special shampoos, etc). It’s pretty easy to use, and you let it sit on your hair for about 20 minutes. It can get a little messy if you’re not careful, so I always put a little towel down and shower and wash my hair after. I’ve attached photos of before and after – sorry they’re not the best quality, but trust me that this dye does a good job of disguising my gray hair for about a month or so. It almost has a matte look to it, and my hair actually feels kind of soft after using it. I always grab several boxes when they go on sale!

Takes too much time and costly
I can’t stand the root touchups. It is messy and takes just as long if you were to do your entire head of hair. It doesn’t come with conditioner for after application and the toolbrush doesn’t do the job for me. It is clumsy and annoying.

Really covers but way dark color
It can be hard to find a hair dye that really covers gray hair. Sometimes a color will fade with each washing from the grey hair more than the rest and the gray starts emerging in a way totally different from having “roots”, but this really covers and lasts. In fact this lasts and lasts and lasts… However the color this particular one 8 Medium Blonde comes out is actually a Brown! I mean, a medium dark brown, too. Since I was just trying to cover some encroaching grey to get it to match the rest of my hair, it was a bit of an unpleasant surprise to have it come out much much darker than advertised. And… it lasts. Using a bleaching agent just isn’t going to happen since I don’t want to ruin my hair. Brunette it is for a few months!On the other hand, the product really truly does not smell awful like most hair color which leaves you wishing you could walk away from under the fumes. This is mild and almost not there in terms of smell so you don’t have to feel sorry for the rest of the family – and they aren’t complaining you’re trying to kill them all with poison fumes!As to the color: Just check out the several color samples they provide in the description at the top, at the bottom, on the box and on the model and you’ll see it’s not just being on a computer screen – there is a real and pronounced inconsistency in the colors they show under the same color name and number.
