Fair question! And yes, hydrocolloid Pimple Patches work by creating a protective environment that allows your skin to function more efficiently.

Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches absorb oil, pus, and impurities from pimples, creating a moist environment that assists the skin. They act as a barrier and stop picking, which helps reduce the risk of scarring or breakouts.
How long to leave pimple patch on? How long do pimple patches take to work?
Good question! We recommend from 6 to 8 hours, but it definitely depends on a person’s skin type. Best practice is to replace patch as necessary, i.e. the patch turns white!
Why do pimple patches turn white?

How do I use pimple patch?
We often get asked a question like “Do you put pimple patches on before or after moisturizer?”.
Don’t worry! here are 3 easy steps:
1. Apply and complete your skincare routine. 2. Wait AT LEAST 30 minutes until your skincare product absorbs into your skin
3. Wipe off the area that the Pimple Patches will go, and then apply the hydrocolloid patch.
Why aren’t my patches sticking, but falling off?
Wet or oily skin creates a slippery barrier, preventing the patch from sticking properly. Please apply pimple patches to clean, dry skin in your skincare routine.
What to do after removing pimple patch?
1. After removing a pimple patch, gently cleanse the area to remove any residue.
2. Apply a soothing toner or moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. If needed, use a spot solution to prevent breakouts.
Can you put makeup over a pimple patch
Definitely! Our hydrocolloid is thin and non-yellowing. Put make-up over a patch and get your acne un-noticed!
Do pimple patches work on cysts (or unpopped, blind pimples)?

Do pimple patches work on ingrown hairs? Do pimple patches work on mosquito bites or cold sores?
Afraid not. It may draw out some fluid, but not any hair out of ingrown hair.
For mosquito bite, yup, definitely not!
For cold sores, pimple patches may not stick well to the moist surface of cold sores, making them not an ideal option.

Long review ahead! (Mighty patch comparison)
Update: as you can see in the photo the bigger patch is Avarelle and maybe I’m just terrible at applying it or maybe it’s the area I applied it but it did get wrinkly. It looks like it didn’t do much but it’s cause the whole patch sucked out the oils and some dead skin so you can’t see a huge difference. But overall the area where I had the patch on feels a lot smoother and cleaner.TLDR: Bigger and thinner than mighty patch, just as effective. For half the price!!! Great at drawing out sebum and oil. Recommend if mighty patch is out of your budget!For context, I’m currently a 20 year old college student and my acne has been through many ups and downs and unfortunately this time was a down. For the past couple of weeks I have actually been eyeing this product as well as the mighty patch. So I decided to order them both to try and see how they compare as one is twice as expensive as the other. The mighty patch consists of 10 patches for 17.99, while the Avarelle patch has 8 patches for half the price(8.50). In terms of size, I was pleasantly surprised with how big it was, the Avarelle patch covers a larger surface area and is in the shape of a square. The mighty patch is more rectangular and I would say half the size of the Avarelle patches. In terms of flexibility and thickness the Avarelle is slightly thinner and has the slightest bit more stretch than the mighty patch. Both stick on through out the night very well and didn’t budge even through my toss and turns. I would say that when putting on the Avarelle patch you might have to be slightly careful with where you apply it because I applied it between my jaw and neck area and it did wrinkle a bit and when I removed it, it did leave a slight mark from the patch. (THEN AGAIN, it might have just been the way I applied it and unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. But I will be posting an update when I use it again!) Now the real question is, were they effective? If you look at other reviews and pictures you will see that the patches extracted lots of sebum and oil. And that is true for both! (AGAIN WILL BE POSTING PICTURES WHEN THE NEXT TIME I USE!) Both acted the same, and I wouldn’t necessarily say they were uncomfortable but you can definitely feel the patch there. (So maybe for those with sensitive skin, be careful when taking off the patch) All in all, I would say they are both equally as effective, BUT Avarelle patches are bigger and cover more surface area than the mighty patch. It’s also slightly thinner and flexible than the other. AND IT WORKS JUST AS WELL FOR HALF THE PRICE! If you need a quick patch that works in removing oils and have an area with pimples that’s ready to pop, this is the product for you!

Holy cow my face is no longer covered in moon craters
I’ll start this off by letting you know I’ve suffered with acne for probably close to 20 years. It started in my pre-teens and now that I hit the big 3-0 it finally seems to have stopped. Soon while I’m no longer dealing with huge zits the size of Mount Everest I still get clogged pores because they are enlarged from my previous acne battles. My cheeks and chin looks like they’re covered in moon craters and when I use an extractor on the pores a ton of sebum comes out. So rather than continuously stick a ton of little tiny circles on my face that are meant for individual zits I figured I’d try these extra large patches. Wow. They worked absolutely amazing. I feel like when I use the individual small dots the other companies make I have to press really hard on my face to make sure they adhere well. That was not a problem at all here. The adhesion was fantastic and when it came time to remove the patches it didn’t feel like I was ripping off my flesh. I could see all the gross and yet satisfying little white blobs on the patch from where it had absorbed my excessive sebum and bacteria while I slept. My pores looked so much smaller because all of that gross stuff that was clogging them had been removed and they could shrink back to a normal size. Seriously, this stuff is great. These did way better than any pore strips I ever used have and they were less painful to use. Oh, I like to add that this company sent me a really cute card via snail mail to thank me for my purchase and I love that the design was made by a talented woman with special needs named Eun Song. I already like to support small businesses, but those who are equal opportunity employers and hire individuals who are differently-abled is something I absolutely have a soft spot for. So go buy these if you want to have baby-soft poreless skin and are tired of it looking like Neil Armstrong should be planting a flag on your face.

Maskne prevention
I bought this patches to use as a layer of protection between my face and the mask I have to wear at work for +12 hrs. I was getting too many breakouts due to mask wearing and this patches have helped decrease the amount of maskne I get. I cut the square shape of each patch into two rectangles and apply each to my cheeks on the area where I’m more prone to getting cystic acne. The breakouts have not been prevented a 100% but have definitely been reduced. I’ve only got small pimples and no cystic breakouts because I’m still using Differin. I’ve recently started cutting each square patch into 4 long pieces and applying one along my chin to prevent chin maskne and it has helped as well. Before these patches I had tried tegaderm and duoderm but they both actually made me break out and were so hard to remove that my skin was very irritated after removal. The biggest downside is that at $8 is pretty much a dollar per patch and that money adds up. That’s why I only use them for work. Wish the store had a package deal. They’re still the most affordable ones I’ve found so far tho. The other problem is that the patch molds a little with facial expressions and wrinkles a little which makes your face have some marks after removal as if you slept on your face. Makes me think with prolonged use, as in years of use, I’ll get wrinkles. But if I keep the patch not to close to my mouth the wrinkling is less. I’m aware the patches are made for occasional use but I’m reviewing how they work for what I’m actually using them.

Best patches out there, hands down. I cover my whole face with them and sleep in them about once a month. So restorative. If I have an extra blemish (almost like a cyst) I use one and magically over night its SO MUCH BETTER.I dont bother with dots, I need so much more than that.

今まで丸いタイプのニキビバッチを利用してきまきたが、直ぐに取れることが悩みでした！顎付近に2つ赤ニキビができてしまい、急遽こちらを購入。自分で大きさをカットできるのも良いポイント。敏感肌ですが7.8時間貼り付けてもかぶれませんでした。通常より早く治りそうでとても良い買い物になりました。ただ、お化粧はシートの上からしてません。剥がれそうな気がして……洗顔後。乾いた肌に直接つけました！剥がれることも無く、リピ決定です。パッケージは古いタイプかな？それ以外は、満足なので☆5個です。

Working at the hospital, I unfortunately started dealing with severe mask acne on both cheeks from wearing medical masks all-day every-day. I found these patches, and started wearing one on each cheek underneath my mask all day. A bit expensive to use them everyday, but they have been very effective. My skin improved significantly within 1-2 weeks of starting to wear these. Yay!
